Ayurveda and Essential Oils
Experiencing the five elements in balance are the basics of Ayurveda, the ancient science of life. Living in harmony with the energies of the Sun and the Moon brings health, radiance and equanimity.
Essential oils can play an important role in your self-care routine. I have created essential oil blend synergies for you to incorporate easily and enhance your practice. Today I will focus on the blends based upon the Ayurvedic principles of Sun and Moon.
Agni is the fire element, our digestive fire, as well as solar energy. We need this fire to properly digest our food, and to digest ideas and emotions. The energy of the sun helps plants grow (photosynthesis) and nurtures us with Vitamin D. It’s the energy of intelligence and joy. It is the sacred fire of life: passionate creativity and drive, leading to illumination, revelation and higher perceptions.
Agni is sometimes called the gatekeeper of life, because compromised agni is the root cause of imbalances that lead to disease. Its qualities are hot, sharp, light, penetrating, subtle, luminous and clear.
The essential oils synergy I created for Agni combines warming and energizing ginger and black pepper, with calming and uplifting neroli and rose geranium.
It is like sunshine in a bottle.
Soma is known as amrita, or the nectar of immortality. It is associated with the cooling waters of the Moon. In fact, the Moon is sometimes referred to as the cup that the gods drink from to achieve immortality. Soma is pure love and bliss. We can cultivate Soma by bathing in the light of the Full Moon, while in meditation. Our tissues and immune system are strengthened by Soma, our mind is cleared and we are strong, healthy and vital.
The Soma essential oils synergy I created is composed of cooling and Shakti nourishing Night Blooming Jasmine and Patchouli, mood lifting Mandarin and Hormonal and emotionally balancing Clary Sage.
Designed to nourish, delight and rejuvenate.
