Super Blood Full Wolf Moon Eclipse

Super Blood Full Wolf Moon Eclipse

The first full moon of the year occurs January 21st (EST). In January, amid the cold and deep snows of midwinter, the wolf packs howled hungrily outside Native American villages. Thus, the villagers began calling January’s full moon the Wolf Moon. This Wolf Moon is particularly special bringing a lunar eclipse, earning it the ominous name “Super Blood Full Wolf Moon Eclipse”.

It’s a “Super” moon because it will be closest to Earth in its monthly orbit and it can appear slightly larger than normal in the night sky. “Blood” refers to the beautiful red-orange tint that occurs as the moon moves into the Earth’s shadow.

There are nights when the wolves are silent and only the moon howls

-George Carlin

Eclipses create doors of opportunity and change, this full moon is in the sign of Leo. Tap into the courage of the lion and strut through the door of opportunity. This could mean simply looking at an old problem in a new way, taking on new work opportunities, or finding a new place to live. The full moon creates a perfect environment for self-care, it's a time of reflection and letting go of things that are no longer serving your path.

One of my favorite ways to do this is to journal the any thoughts and emotions floating around in my head so I can leave them on the paper and allow myself to relax.

Brew yourself a warm cup of tea and draw a bath using elements corresponding with full moon energy. Attuning the mind, while connecting the body and spirit in harmony allows you to refocus on the weeks ahead.

Wolf Moon Bathing Ritual

  • Selenite Crystal

  • Quartz Crystal

  • Rainbow Moonstone

  • Mint Leaves

  • Yellow Rose Petals or Calendula

  • 1 Cup of Epsom Salt, Himalayan Salt or Sea Salt

  • White Candles

  • Incense Frankincense or Sandalwood

In a big bowl, mix together the flowers and mint leaves with your hands, then add the cup of Salt. Set up your candles and light your incense while filling the bath tub. As the water begins to rise slowly add the salt & herb mixture a little at a time allowing it to dissolve.

Place the Selenite alongside the bathtub to charge the room and clear any negative energies. Note to never put Selenite in water because it can dissolve. Upon entering the bath take the moonstone and quartz into your hands, lay down being mindful of your breath and just enjoy the warm water absorbing the energy from the flowers and salts. Close your eyes while soaking in the bath for 15-25 minutes taking in the positive vibrations and allowing yourself to let go. When you leave the bath you will feel attuned to a higher energetic vibration.
